She was at university studying hotel management when she was invited by a friend to a meeting of other Christian students. “When one of the Christian students opened the door to me, I could see two things in her face – hope and joy. Later, I asked her why she had that and she and the other students began telling me about God, and praying for me. I had never cried in front of other people before but I found that I could not control my tears. “I starting attending their meetings every week and they gave me a Bible. I decided to become a Christian because I had found the hope and the joy that I had always been looking for.” Do something for God Two years later, Hui Guo felt that she wanted to do something for God. She began praying that he would lead her into the job that he wanted her to have. A short time later she visited a Christian friend, who was working for an HIV/AIDS education program run by the churches. She was inspired by what she saw and asked if she could work with them, sharing also that she had been praying for God to reveal a purpose for her life. “I, too, have been praying to God,” her friend told her, “and I know that if somebody comes to me, that person has been sent by him. The only thing you can depend on in this kind of work is God – only God can change people’s lives.” Moved by these words, Hui Guo started working the very next day. She is in charge of administration and finance, and also sometimes gets involved in the HIV/AIDS training (WR410/33-04.07) [2 photos] Contents |
