Bible Quiz encourages Christians
to share their faith

SINGAPORE — More than 300 people participated enthusiastically in the Follow Jesus’ Trail event that marked the climax of the Bible Society of Singapore’s National Bible Quiz 2005. By challenging their speed and initiative, this race through different ‘stations’ in the life of Jesus was designed to bring them closer to God’s Word and to encourage them to share it with others.

During the four weeks running up to the race, the Society held a weekly Online Bible Quiz based on the Acts of the Apostles. Questions ranging from the sermons of Peter to the works of the Holy Spirit encouraged the participants – who numbered more than 160 – to read the Bible closely.

Designated routes

Then, in early September, the Society brought people of all ages together at St Andrew’s Cathedral for the Follow Jesus’ Trail event. After registering and being greeted by the guest of honour, politician Ong Kian Min, they set off along designated routes to a series of ‘stations’ in churches and schools where they had to crack codes and answer questions based on the Gospel of Luke. By the time they had completed their assigned route, each team had ‘visited’ Bethlehem, Galilee, Samaria and Jerusalem.

Awesome!

“Each participant went home with a taste of what our Lord and Saviour did for us 2,000 years ago,” says Marianne Ling, the Society’s Communications Officer. “What an awesome way to spend an afternoon!”

And feedback from the participants confirms that the event was a success.

“Right after the quiz, a couple came up to our group to share the Gospel,” writes a member of a team from Telok Ayer Methodist Church. “I feel it was a nice touch to end our day like that, reminding us that, with all the biblical knowledge we have, God wants us to go out into the world and save souls. It made us realise the value of this whole event. It is not just about winning, but about the lessons that we can take back and start sharing the Gospel with people around us.” (WR 400/29 - 03.06) [1 photo]
