High-tech trailer brings Bible message alive
in Scotland

SCOTLAND — The Scottish Bible Society has launched a mobile resource that is designed to bring the Bible into the heart of communities where both children and adults may have little awareness of Christian ideas and events. Based mainly in Scotland, the Bibleworld SBS Studios trailer will visit schools and churches throughout the year to present God’s Word in a stimulating, ‘hands-on’ environment.

Building on the success of Bibleworld Experience at Bible House in Edinburgh (see Latest News #259) and its predecessors, the new venture, described by the Society as “the most exciting Bible educational resource yet,” will bring the Bible alive for children, their teachers and helpers within their own community.

Spaceship

During a 75-minute tour, participants visit six different ‘sets’ – including Plane, Spaceship and TV Quiz Show – where the latest technology brings the Bible alive. The Plane set is located in an extending ‘pod’ which is fitted out as part of an aircraft cabin where each set contains a built-in video screen. The 14-ton trailer, which can also be used by church groups in the evenings as an outreach tool, holds up to 32 people.

Having invested £270,000 (US$470,821) to convert into reality its vision of bringing God’s Word into the centre of communities across Scotland, the Bible Society is now seeking financial support to keep the trailer on the road. “Can we – or you – afford to stand by while the Bible and its message fade into the background?” it asks.
