PHILIPPINES — Nora Lucero has been appointed the first female General Secretary of the Philippine Bible Society. Mrs Lucero has served the Society as Deputy General Secretary for 18 years and also has long experience of many other aspects of Bible work: she is the only female member of the United Bible Societies (UBS) Asia-Pacific Area Board, she is active in ANGLOSEC, the English publishing arm of UBS, and she was involved in the re-establishment of the Bible Society in Cambodia. e-257 September 11, 2003 (WR 381/20 - 11.03)

AUSTRALIA — The Bible Society in Australia is making a special sports New Testament, Beyond the Try Line, available to people attending Rugby World Cup matches between October 10 and November 22. The Scripture uses the CEV text, offers an explanation of what the New Testament is about and contains testimonies and photos of Rugby League and Rugby Union personalities. A special rugby edition of Mark’s Gospel is also being produced. SCOTLAND — The Scottish Bible Society has opened Bibleworld Experience at Bible House in Edinburgh. This attraction uses multimedia computers, film and interactive screens to let the people of Scotland know that, in the words of Executive Director the Rev Douglas Campbell, “the Bible is alive, interactive and relevant in the 21st century.” Bibleworld Experience, which builds on the success of the original Bibleworld hands-on exhibition and the subsequent Bibleworld II touring version, was opened by Cameron Stout, winner of the popular television series ‘Big Brother.’ e-259 October 9, 2003 (WR 381/22 - 11.03)
