The Bible in the sphere of politics

SWINDON, ENGLAND — A new book produced jointly by the British and Foreign Bible Society and the University of Gloucestershire is an attempt to help scholars and others “make the journey from what God said to Abraham … to how to handle ethics and politics today,” according to one of its contributing editors.

Dr Craig Bartholomew, a Senior Research Fellow at the university, was speaking at the launch in Oxford of A Royal Priesthood? The Use of the Bible Ethically and Politically (Paternoster Press), the third volume produced from the Scripture and Hermeneutics Seminar, held annually by the university and the Bible Society [More...].

The book comprises a collection of 15 essays on The Desire of The Nations by Oliver O’Donovan, Regius Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at Oxford, which has been described as “one of the most considerable pieces of moral theology of the last century”.
