Political change brings new opportunities for Bible Society of KenyaNAIROBI, Kenya The Bible Society of Kenya is excited about the changes that have taken place in the country since Mwai Kibaki was elected President on December 27, says Bible Society General Secretary the Rev Henry Kathii. They are very optimistic that there will be improvements to the economic, political and social climate, creating better conditions for Bible work. During the long years of single-party rule by Daniel Arap Mois Kenya African National Union, the Society was supported by churches and individuals but found it increasingly difficult to translate that goodwill into meaningful financial support, according to Mr Kathii. The Society anticipates that economic revival will improve the situation, and is calling on the United Bible Societies fellowship to support it in prayer as it looks forward to a more favourable opportunity to serve the Church in Kenya in fulfilling its mission.
