Portions for displaced people
in Côte d’Ivoire

ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire — The Bible Society of Côte d’Ivoire is to use UBS Rapid Response Reserve funding of US$22,000 to produce a Scripture Portion for people traumatised by September’s coup and the subsequent conflict. An estimated 50,000 copies will be printed, most for distribution in January, mainly through churches and Christian organisations in central and northern areas.

The Society has already distributed a Selection entitled Secours en Temps d’Epreuve (‘Help in Testing Times’) in response to the coup, but recognises that further work is required to assist people who, according to General Secretary Jean Kouassi, are experiencing reactions ranging “from psychological trauma, fear and desire for vengeance to despair.”
