Tribute to president

NEW YORK, United States — Members of the American Bible Society (ABS) board made personal contributions amounting to US$220,000 to the Opportunity 21 Scripture distribution program to show their appreciation of the service given by Dr Eugene B Habecker, the Society’s President and Chief Executive.

The presentation of the cheque took place during an evening of tributes to Dr Habecker and his wife last September, marking his 11 years at the helm of ABS. The couple were also presented with a replica of the Codex Vaticanus, one of the earliest and most valuable manuscripts of the Greek Bible, acquired from the Vatican Library for the ABS’s library and archives. Letters of congratulation included one from President George W Bush.
