into the bustling heart of Cairo

CAIRO, Egypt — A billboard located on a column in Ramses Square is allowing the Bible Society of Egypt to bring God’s Word right into the bustling heart of Cairo.

The Bible Society received a very positive response to the billboards it set up along the Cairo-Alexandria highway in summer 2001 (see World Report 363/28). In order to develop this outreach, a further two billboards were placed on two other busy highways this summer. The Society also gained permission to place a billboard around the top of one of the columns supporting a highway which crosses over Ramses Square, which is located directly in front of Cairo’s main station and is crowded with tourists and local people every day.

The billboard, which is highly visible, advertises a range of Bible-related products, including the Jesus film, along with the Society’s nearby bookshop and its home delivery service.

Bible Society General Secretary Ramez Atallah says he is “thrilled by this development.” He has called for continued prayer for the Society “as we make God’s Word available and accessible to all.” (WR 373/13 - 12.02/01.03) [PHOTOS]
