Indonesian Bible Society ministers to flood victims: photos tell the story

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Victims of serious flooding on the island of Java are receiving assistance from the Indonesian Bible Society (LAI), which numbers some of its staff among those affected.

In collaboration with local groups and churches, the LAI is supplying food, clothing, medicines and blankets, and has distributed almost 900 Bibles and Scripture Portions.

It is believed that at least 25 people died in and around Jakarta as a result of the flooding at the end of January, while at one point an estimated 300,000 people were forced to flee to temporary shelters.
