BRISBANE, Australia — Churches in East Timor have discussed their ongoing Scripture requirements with the Rev Keith Bricknell, UBS Asia-Pacific Program Consultant, and the Rev Dr Daud Soesilo, Asia-Pacific Regional Translation Coordinator.

Mr Bricknell indicated that much valuable information had been obtained about attitudes towards Bible work by the churches during five days of meetings in January, but emphasised that there is still considerable progress to be made in making the churches aware of the role of a national Bible Society.

Both the Roman Catholic and Protestant Church recognise the need for a Tetun translation of the Old Testament and Deuterocanon, and the report produced following the visit recommends the involvement of UBS Translation Services in developing this work. (WR368/40 - 6.02) e-191 [PHOTOS]
