Old Testament Scholar Dies
FRIBOURG, Switzerland — Leading Old Testament scholar Father Jean-Dominique Barthélemy, who undertook a pioneering study of the Septuagint manuscript Aquila, died on February 10 at the age of 81. He was Professor of Old Testament Studies at Fribourg University from 1956, and was also, among other roles, a member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission and a member of the Ecole Biblique et Archéologique de Jérusalem.
