Thousands celebrate Guaraní Bible launchCAMIRI, Bolivia When the Bolivian Bible Society (BoBS) offered to provide transport for people wanting to attend the launch of the Guaraní Bible in this southern Bolivian town on December 8, it never dreamed that nearly 1,000 people would respond. But that is exactly what happened and the Society had to hire trucks and a train to fulfil its promise. Altogether, about 2,500 people attended the launch. The publication of the new Bible is a significant milestone for the BoBS because Guaraní is only the fourth language of Bolivia to have a complete translation of the Bible. But for the Guaraní people, who, according to Dr Bill Mitchell, UBS Americas Regional Translation Coordinator, are at a crucial point in their history, the new Bible is also a sign of hope.
