Bible Societies’ gifts show ‘tangible solidarity’ with ABS following attacks

READING, England — Bible Societies around the world have to date raised US$82,600 in a show of support for the American Bible Society (ABS) following the attacks on the USA on September 11. The gifts come from 25 Bible Societies, many of them in some of the world’s poorest countries. In some cases, members of staff have made donations from their salaries. ABS President Dr Eugene Habecker has expressed his thanks to Bible Societies for their “prayers, words of encouragement and exceptional generosity”. “The monetary support we received represented a real partnership in the Bible cause and we are indebted to our colleagues for their faithfulness,” Dr Habecker said. “Those gifts were greatly appreciated, especially because so many countries are dealing with the same issues we now are facing.” (WR 367/3 - 3.02) e-182
