Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire — The magnificent stained-glass windows of Yamoussoukro’s Roman Catholic basilica
n Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire — The magnificent stained-glass windows of Yamoussoukro’s Roman Catholic basilica of Our Lady of Peace make the most of the African sun, importing bright colours that light up the dark wood of the interior. Said to be the largest church in the world, it was completed in 1989 and consecrated the following year by Pope John Paul II. The Bible Society of Côte d’Ivoire (BSCI) is working to encourage all Roman Catholics to have and use their own copy of the Bible. Many Roman Catholic church leaders are strong advocates of biblical knowledge and are working to persuade the many priests throughout their parishes to promote Bible study and support the BSCI, especially during Bible Week.
