New generators end power shortages

21 (O-21), the major global initiative launched by
the UBS in late 1999, the Bible Society of
Nigeria (BSN) has resolved one of its most troubling problems
that of daily power cuts.
Two new generators, which have been
up and running since last year at the Bible Societys guest-house,
are now enabling the BSN to continue working throughout the frequent
black-outs. Previously, the power cuts made it almost impossible to
operate computers, caused the air conditioning to fail and disrupted
the telephone system.
We
cannot do much about the telephone problems but we can ensure a continued
service now with the brand-new generators, said the Rev Dr Fred
Odutola, General Secretary of the BSN. The old generator at
Bible House was no longer reliable, and to run the Bible Guest House
effectively we need to offer guests water and electricity round the
clock. These new state-of-the-art generators trip on when the mains
supply goes off and then cut themselves off when the mains supply
comes back on, he added.
The board of the BSN prayed over the new
generators (pictured above) on Thursday August 17 and dedicated them
to Gods service. (WR 359/2 - 4/5.01) [PHOTOS]
