PRAGUE, Czech Republic A video based around an exhibition which the UBS put on in Rome last year, in co-operation with the Vatican, was shown on nationwide television in the Czech Republic on Sunday, February 4. The 16-minute video was produced as an aid to national Bible Societies in the promotion of their work and has been described as being especially appropriate for a Catholic audience. The script was recorded in Czech for the purpose. The broadcast was not the first time that Czech state television has shown itself favourably disposed to the showing of Bible-related material. Last June it televised a national Bible competition organised by a body called the World Bible Championship, which has Dr Jirí Lukl, the General Secretary of the Czech Bible Society, on its steering committee. There are good friends of mine in the Christian Broadcasting section of the state television, said Dr Lukl. That is why they occasionally take some materials that I recommend to them. In our country there are good ecumenical relations between Catholics and Protestant churches. They accept any good programme that leads towards Christian unity in our country. (WR 358/4 - 03.01) e-129
