New FCBH agent gets busy

BLANTYRE, Malawi — Stories of the success of the Scripture cassette ministry Faith Comes By Hearing, in which UBS partners Hosanna Ministries, are plentiful in all parts of the world. The program is well established in Malawi and is now funded by O-21. As this story shows, the energy of Bible Society agents in promoting it is undiminished.

A newly-trained Faith Comes By Hearing promoter wasted no time at all in urging schools and churches to set up listening groups for the highly successful Scripture cassette ministry.

A three-day training workshop for nine newly-recruited Faith Comes By Hearing agents was an early item on this year’s calendar for the Bible Society of Malawi (BSM). The recruits learned about the work of BSM, the translation and distribution of Scripture and the way in which the audio Scripture ministry works.

The six men and three women then began to put their training into action, working on a part-time basis in nine of the ten zones of Blantyre, the largest city in Malawi.

One gentleman, in particular, showed a commendable energy in his task. Barely a week after the end of the training, MacGeoffrey Mwale, agent for the Ndirande zone, had visited no fewer than 27 schools and five churches. He reported that five new listening groups had already been initiated. (SR 29/27 - 4/5.02)
