In this Special Report, Danish freelance photojournalist Rune Hansen writes about a visit he paid last July to Gujarat, in north-west India. His reports and photographs give a brief but fascinating glimpse of part of a vast country alive with diverse languages, cultures and religions – some of which continue to cause internal tensions and violence. In spite of these and other problems, the Bible Society of India and its auxiliaries continue their efforts to make the Word of God available to every language group – efforts which will receive a welcome US$6 million boost over the next two years from the UBS program Opportunity 21, the largest Bible distribution program ever organised.
