denotes a story not written by Mr Boyd
In this Special Report, freelance
photojournalist Andrew Boyd writes about a visit to Uganda. Its political
leader, President Yoweri Museveni, has won the country a considerable
measure of international confidence, and although it was extremely badly
hit by the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, it has had notable success in
bringing down rates of infection. Mr Boyd found the churches thriving
under capable indigenous leaders, although traditional religions and,
occasionally, cults show their appeal, as the horrific events of earlier
this year demonstrated.
