KUWAIT — Children dressed in festive outfits were called into service by staff at the Bible Resource Center in Kuwait to promote copies of the Lion Children's Bible which had arrived just as shoppers were seeking last-minute Christmas present ideas. With a group of children standing outside, it did not take long before many shoppers were encouraged into the centre to browse the eye-catching publication.

This Children's Bible proved extremely popular last Christmas, so the order was doubled this year to 2,000 copies. As the target market is migrant workers from South Asia and the Philippines, many of whom earn relatively little, the Bibles were priced at the equivalent of just US$ 2.54 each. At this attractive price, many migrant workers could afford to purchase a copy to send home to their families.

As more and more people made their purchases, staff at the centre frequently heard praise for the stories and accompanying illustrations. Indeed, many parents described the Bible as "a perfect gift". They also heard from a man who works as a driver for a Kuwait family. He bought four copies and gave them to the children of his employer. Returning to the centre, he told staff that the children were extremely happy with his gift. He, too, was happy, feeling that God had blessed him during the Christmas season.
